In this thread I would like to read opinions on those of you who have been to Florida and Puerto Rico which one would you pick.

First, let's please ignore in this thread the political and social situation of Puerto Rico which alone would make Florida win by a landslide. We all know Puerto Rico is currently unliveable right now. But in terms of nature, fun, and overall diversity, which one would be better if we discard the "imperfections" of social issues?

Florida: No mountains, no major caves, somewhat cold in the winter (cold fronts). For most of the part, it is what I believe makes it less interesting than Puerto Rico. But still the rolling hills and country scenarios in North Central and the panhandle make Florida diverse and peaceful.

Puerto Rico is still smaller.

There are many pros and cons for both places which are the main winter hubs for retirees and vacationers from the Midwest and Northeast.

Puerto Rico is more interesting in my opinion.
The rain forests, the mountains, the gorgeous beaches and true caribbean location make it naturally more interesting.

Florida, while pretty in it's own right is quite bland in the inland central part of the state. It's flat. It's hot n humid during the summer and some parts (northern FL) get down right cold.

Southern FL around Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida keys is prob as close to PR as one can get without leaving mainland USA. .

but overall, I think Puerto Rico is naturally more striking and beautiful.

Doesn't sound like it since PR is far from "unlivable".

If you know Spanish visit elnuevodia.com and primerahora.com and read the marvelous news everyday on the daily murders, carjackings, assaults and and then arrive to your conclusion. Puerto Rico is a rotten dump right now, in terms on the political, social and economic situation. You are not safe anywhere, elders have been killed in their house, even one man was assaulted while driving in a major highway at noon a la Juarez. This is why it is unliveable right now.
