Our first electric bill was a shocker, so we turned it up to 78, which was just as comfortable and saved us about $50 on our electric. Also, using ceiling fans makes a big difference.
That's amazing that 2 degrees difference can save you that much.

i don't use it during the day, I keep the door open instead. At night during sleep usually 73. I don't use it in the car rarely ever, too, unless i'm driving on the highway and going over 55mph. Then you almost have to. But i'd rather have my arm hanging out the window.

This thread makes me happy - I was wondering if I had mine too high/low!

77 during the day when I'm gone (my apt is well shaded, I don't think it kicks in much anymore), 75 when I'm home with ceiling fans, and 73 at night. Thank god for programmable thermostats.

83 when I'm watching TV or sleeping, 79 when I'm more active around the house. Fans help. So does not wearing a shirt.
It's not bad once you get used to it, and you should see my electric bill in the summer.

They also seem to have weak air conditioners which are noisy and drafty. In my home the temp can drop quickly when the system is on full power, and with the ceiling acting as the vent, all you feel is refreshing cool air falling.
Wow. That is really really cold. I would need to wear a sweatshirt or even a coat at those chilly temps.

But when you think 80 you think of being outside with sun and humidity when it feels more like 90, but inside 80 is not a hot house unless you get a lot of direct sunlight which adds to the heat.

It's hot to me. 75 inside is hot to me but I can stand it when I'm awake. To sleep good it needs to be at least 72. I've got covered porches front and back and lots of trees too keeping my house dark inside. To my mom, she thinks my house is always freezing. When I visit my in-laws I have to take a hoodie because they keep their house even colder than I keep mine. Everyone has different temperature comfort points. That's why some people think FL weather is great and some can't stand it.
