You should know of what you post, before you post it. You (Florida) or even the Federal Government are not paying me anything. Zero.

They both have it. Dallas has a pretty nice system. Houston is working on theirs.

Actually the two largest metros left in Florida that will be without any rail mass transit is Tampa/St. Pete and Jax which is even worse in that regard. As for politics the demographics in Florida are changing with an increasing minority population & a continuing influx of Northerners the state is turning bluer. That being said the state has more registered Democrats than Republicans which makes me wonder why our Legislature is conservative and Republicans.

Both idiotic parties do the same thing when they get in power. Dems did it for 100 years in NC and when the pubs took over recently, they did the same thing. But whomever's pathetic party is not in power will complain about the other doing the same as they have.

Politics. Gotta puke no matter who is in charge.

Like many states (examples such as VA, CO, NC, IA, NM, OH and NV) Florida has been trending Blue. It's probably a matter of time as the older generations pass on that the trend will continue here and other states.

You need to take NC off that list. In the 2012 election, they voted republican for president and the republicans took over the state legislature after 100 years of democrat control. A lot of that had to due with so much corruption from the democrat leadership over the previous two governors terms.

Florida is primarily fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I like it like that. Unfortunately Florida, like most states, will lean more and more fiscally liberal as well over time, as the gimme gimme gimme for free mentality grows across the country. Stupid youth generation which knows nothing about fiscal responsibility, but knows everything about wanting stuff given to them for free.

Perhaps, or perhaps not given how many they're alienating with their "going back 20 years" social agenda and it sure isn't going to help the high unemployment rate when skilled job corporate relocation focus turns to other states. At least they'll have the GOP dream of scores of low paying/low skill subservient jobs to generate inadequate tax dollars so they can cut spending for schools, roads/infrastructure and social service programs...just like the rest of the Red States!

I livd there. Trust me. They have plenty of tax dollars. They have a state income tax, a sales tax, tax on vehicles, taxes up the ying yang. Not as bad as NJ, CA and places like that, but plenty of taxes. People got sick an tired of corruption and wasted money. Not saying the crew they have now is any good, but that is how they got there.

That is one of the many reasons why I like Florida better. Taxes for MY family here are far far less than up there and we have much more here than there as far as great infrastructure. Continual improvements here, better road system, better just about everything for the money.

However, the gimme gimme gimme crew is every growing and will eventually make Florida like the places people ran away from.

Dallas and Houston both have light rail. And expansion plans already in the works!
