The malcontents around here are RARELY the type that come back and say, "I couldn't find a job in Florida with my amazing skillset making more than 10$ an hour, but hey! I was just offered 20$ an hour in ____ state for the same thing AND my expenses are lower!"
Not the case, people who feed disinformation on things being so great here for all sectors are the ones who say it's a "one size fit's all" area. Reality is it's not. For what's here the pay is subpar, but the COL is high.

You will have to ask Gov. Scott on his agenda to make Florida a high tech job state that will pull in companies from elsewhere.

Governor Scott is an idiot. I have been trying to get people to realize that Florida is on a path to destruction by selling itself for development. The environment has been destroyed for a quick buck. The real future in Florida is for this state to be a world leader in energy. Right now huge quantities of rare earth minerals are being dumped by the phosphate mining industry due to archaic government regulations on Thorium. The only way Florida can be a high tech leader is to push Congress to fix this problem, and let us produce rare earth minerals to compete with China. The service industry currently pushed by the powers that be is a failure. Energy is wealth, not money laundering and development. Of course cannabis legalization will be needed to cut expenses out of law enforcement and prisons. Remember, no rare earth and thorium energy, no high tech Florida.

This is a good video to introduce the concept that could make Florida one of the wealthiest states in the US.

Show where and who is making any assertion that "all the jobs in Florida pay well and above market".... vs. "all the jobs in Florida pay below market."

How many times must BLS wage data be linked to in order to show there is no "general" wage depression in Florida? Some industries and jobs pay well or better than in other states, others not as well.

I don't have to ask Rick Scott anything. He's a tool.

But for Florida to diversify its economy it has to start somewhere. At least it appears to be TRYING. All of Florida's major cities lack the business history and manufacturing and industry foundation present in other well-known cities in this country, so it pretty much has to be made from scratch.

And thanks to that, many FL cities rank at the top for air/pollution quality. There's a silver lining to everything.

You should have made this argument 20+ years ago.

For that matter, the Sunshine State should be a leader in solar power. It's lagging now due the utility companies. They have in effect argued that if solar power is sold by a third party company, the utility companies will have to raise rates on all homeowners due to the profits they will lose, and they are guaranteed a net profit of 10% in Florida. Things are finally breaking with leasing being allowed and FPL getting involved in solar, but we should be much further along, though I keep reading that Florida is "poised" to become a leader in renewable energy. Our mostly white, republican, male legislature has been too busy regressing and trying to christianize the state rather than to move forward with progressive laws. The voters need to vote these bozos out of office and bring in new progressive blood or all the progressive governors in the world cannot move this state forward.
