Seems like it can be toxic to people's health. Is there anywhere in FL that does not spray chemicals to control the bugs?? Thanks.

Jacksonville for example:

We lived outside of Gainesville years ago and did not have mosquito control (but had tons of mosquitos day and night). We are now in Sarasota. They have a mosquito control division. Not all control methods are air spraying. Some use granules in the water that prevent the larva from developing.

You know what else is harmful to your health? Malaria, equine encephalitis, dengue fever, and other mosquito-borne illnesses.

Most rural areas dont have mosquito control.

I live in the country and last year after the tropical storms they got really bad. They were bad in Gainesville too until they started spraying. A friend of mine who lives there said the spraying wiped out the skeeters around her place while they were still swarming for months later at my place in the country.

It's a trade off. Back in the olden days when there were no chemicals to worry about life expectancy was about 35......

Some areas that have it will let you know the spraying schedule. Some have web sites where you can check if your zone will be sprayed. This way you can stay inside and shut windows on those nights. Some have calls lists and will leave you a VM the day your zone will be sprayed. they usually only spray between June and Sept or so.

I think I'd rather take the one time a year spraying vs swarms of mosquitos.

Yeah I know bugs are a pain and can carry disease. But they strong straying makes me sick too. Wondering if anyone knows of a link that shows what areas do not use harsh chemicals. Thanks.
