i think i am getting a feeling here that many people dont like south florida because it doesn't snow for christmas and they never have a "white christmas" in south florida.

That is a unique conjecture, I believe that will take more than snow for some folks to like South Florida...

Actually there is a neighborhood in Orlando - Celebration - where it 'snows' every evening in December. I've wanted to go, but haven't had a chance yet. I've seen pictures - looks like fun!

It's usually dry, so Cristmas in Florida is a brown one.

Seriously, you can always take a vacation up north and get your fill of snow. I remember the day it snowed in Miami in 1977. I was gettng dressed for high school and missed it completely! lol
Oh wait, there was bits of frost left on the windshield of my dad's car.

For many years I have comforted myself with the knowledge that millions of people around the world spend the holidays in a green place, dreaming of a white Christmas.

You can do what I did and ask a good friend who lives up north to tape a snowstorm and play it while you light a fire in the hearth (space heater), and trim your tree.

Eggnog with brandy tastes just as good with or without snow.

I spent way too many snowy days in NY to miss a white Christmas anymore and I don't mind being on a cruise or anywhere else without snow. But I'll tell you the FIRST time I was in warm weather, in my own home, and didn't have to wear all that winter gear and looked out and it was SUMMER in December, was the most depressing thing ever. I was in my mid 20's and wasn't even in this country. My then husband had to work in another country for a couple of years. I really never want to see snow again.

You know I'm from here and I simply can't relate the Holidays with snow - to me it's a Palm tree in a pot that I roll in from the outside and decorate with lights - with Fl type 60'ish weather and at times hot weather. This is what I grew up with, so it's my perfect Holiday setting.
Though, I can see/understand people that grew up with changes of seasons, falling leaves that lead to having a white Holiday filled w/snow and building snowmen, doing snow angels, sleighs, snow mobiles, etc.
Again, everything depends...and in this case it depends where we grew up.

Many of us experienced the fun and pains of the crude winter in NY, ND, Ut, Co, and Iceland to mention a few places. I do like the snow, I don't like the 3 feet of snow in front of the door if the wind is blowing. In ND we got 70 plus inches of snow and every public utility failed and we are taking cold nights, try 82 below zero. Not a good thing.

If I want snow is only a couple of hours up the road and I'm back to our little town. Lets enjoy what we have and be merry...

Me too! I'd be much merrier with palm trees, friendly women, wearing short sleeves, 75 degree temps, as well as easily finding a date for New Year's Eve! (As well as even the prospect of ringing in the new year in tank tops and shorts!)
