Hi Everyone,

We are tired of the New England winters and are close to retirement. After endless hours of research, we are very interested in Flagler Beach to settle down in. We have no children and enjoy the simple things in life. We are early birds, enjoy strolling on the beach, walks with the dogs, coffee shops, restaurants. Like to have modern conveniences close enough but don't need huge shopping districts, etc... Anyway, we are looking for some honest opinions of Flagler Beach. Is the town as nice and quiet as it appears? Friendly people? Safe? Clean? Any and all feedback/information you can offer is much appreciated. Thanks for reading.

In my opinion there's not a whole lot going on there in terms of restaurants and coffee shops (and other services). It's fairly quiet except for weekends which can see a good bit of rolling thunder types (motorcyclists) coming into town. If you like a laidback environment with a decent assortment of restaurants/coffee shops nearby you might look just to the north at St Augustine Beach. While St Augustine proper can be crowded and touristy (daytime hours, before 5pm mostly) the beach side is typically quiet and lacking in the loud/annoying motorcycle presence seen in communities further to the south, which stems largely from Daytona Beach.

Yes Flagler Beach is a very nice and quiet town. There are a few restraurants and things like that. There is a large shopping center on Hwy 100 between Flagler Beach and Bunnell. Jacksonville, Daytona, and Orlando are also not far.

Not as safe as St Augustine Beach, but not too bad.

Thanks again, Kyle. In doing research between the 2 cities, it appears as though it is more expensive to buy/build in St. Augustine Beach, especially if we would want to be as close to the beach as possible, correct? I understand that in FB, no one is directly on the beach, rather across A1A. Prices seem reasonable. To find something comparable in SAB, it looks like we'd be spending A LOT more. Please correct me if I'm wrong! Thanks so much for the help.

What are your criteria for a home? That'll help tremendously.

We'd like to be as close to the beach as possible. Single family home. Quiet area, don't want to be right next to restaurants/bars, etc... A view of the ocean would be fantastic but we understand that comes with a price. At least 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms.

Yes Flagler Beach is safe, especially the beachside.

Thanks, guys. We have another question... There is a North Oceanshore Blvd. and a South Oceanshore Blvd. in Flagler Beach. We don't want to be right in the middle where the pier is and where is seems a bit busier. What is the difference between going further North or South? Does it get more crowded the further North you go? It is quieter on the South side? Thanks so much for the help. Much appreciated.
