This is not true at all......

You maybe need 6 figure income only if your wanting to live right on the beach, otherwise housing and other expenses are about the same as many other states, insurance is the only difference we have noticed so far but will have no problem affording it(Will be about $400 more premium). Maybe other areas of florida is more unaffordable like key west but not many nice towns we have looked at.

I appreciate all the feedback. I do believe my family will be very happy in Florida - funny thing is I am actually a native - born in Jacksonville. We are headed down 1st week in June to scout out some neighborhoods. Finding that the areas I desire are not less expensive than Long Island - that is not my major reason for the move. It's more lifestyle/climate. I believe you can be happy anywhere so long as you are with the right ppl and have the right attitude.
