This is 2018 and I am a recent retiree who is contemplating moving to Fernandina Beach? I found these comments to be very interesting and enlightening. Has anything changed about the area and the people living there within the last 2-3 years?

I’ve never heard anything bad about Fernandina Beach and I just moved to northern St Johns County last year. Only, issue you have to concern yourself with is the overdevelopment , which is worse where I am then Fernandina Beach

The adjoining community of Yulee to the west is seeing the most growth as much of FB is built out and the area closer to I-95 in Yulee is more desirable for workday commutes into Jacksonville. As a retiree I wouldn't think you would find much change occurring in Fernandina Beach itself, particularly if choosing closer to the downtown area versus the west side. Near the center of town in and around Island Walk you'll find all the conveniences you would need, in an environment not slated to blow up with development/traffic/congestion like other areas.
