Did you read anything other than the title?

What I'm looking for is relatively decent rent (for a 1/1 apt), good chance of finding a job in research or healthcare with my B.S in Biology (I'm hoping at a university or hospital) and a safe area that's also a nice place for a 22 year old woman!

I would prefer Tampa or Orlando because it's a closer drive to my family in South FL.

Thanks

Started mine in Tampa before I even finished college, made the BIG LEAP to Orlando shortly after, and have been doing pretty well for myself since.

With the footnote that you're in a high demand field (Engineering if I'm not mistaken). For the other ninety-odd percent in the job market it's a completely different tale in Orlando and in my opinion irresponsible to suggest otherwise given the overall state of the job market in Orlando/Central Florida.....especially for transplants.

The Tampa area is ruined. Rents went up like crazy along with insurances and everything else. They build everywhere and building permits are given out like candy and suckers move there. The bridge commutes are a nightmare if you choose to live there. Back roads in Suburbs like Riverview and Valrico are now wall to wall traffic. There is some decent companies who did relocate here the last few years but they put them all in the same area which causes commuting nightmares.

I agree. People refuse to hear the truth. Just because the previous poster succeeded in securing a good job does not mean the majority will. My nephew graduated with honors from UF in 2009 and he could not land a decent paying job in the IT field. Suffice to say he relocated to Nevada where is working (happily) now. He could not secure a job in his field anywhere in Florida.

Agreed. This is why UF and FSU is so desirable. Small towns like Gville and Tally offer excellent places to be a college student. I'm betting the OP (ang314) does not have the means to attend top tier universities like UF/FSU so he's crying and complaining about big city life where he thinks he can study and begin his career. Young kids today have zero common sense when it comes to hard work and saving like old school Americans did back in the day.
