Can anyone tell me about the commute? How long does it take? Is there only one good route, or are there good alternates in case of accidents & such? Are most businesses (corporate office type) downtown, or are there several business districts around Tampa? Are these areas easy to cummute to? Any information is greatly appreciated. We are planning to relocate to the area from Texas. Thank you.

We live just south of downtown Lakeland, and my hubby works in downtown Tampa - he thinks the commute is a breeze. He takes the Polk Parkway, which joins the newly renovated I-4 to town, occasionally getting on the Leroy Selmon Expressway into town. The whole trip is about 40 minutes. There are only sporadic occasions of accidents in which case he may have to exit I-4 or the Parkway early. Traffic moves very well, no logjams like when we used to live the same distance to the NORTH of Tampa (Pasco County) - that trip took TWICE as long due to traffic.

Westshore area is another business hub, a few miles past downtown.

Hope this helps!
