1-Compared to other states, it is cheap. In Weston, a good home goes for around $330,000 in some areas. The same home would go for 700k back on Long Island.
2-Schools are good. Miami-Dade has fantastic magnet programs, and Broward, and Palm Beach have top 500 in many areas such as Boca Raton, Parkland, Weston, and Palmetto Bay.
3-It is diverse. It has so many different cultures down there, and of course the food associated with it.
4-You are never more than an hour from some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, like South Beach.
5-It has the best mass transit in the state. While that is not a huge accomplishment, you have many different types of transit, like light rail, heavy rail, and buses.
6-It has the most dynamic city in the state. Miami is the most entertaining, and interesting city in Florida. You have all of the big 4, 3 big concert arenas, the beach, and fantastic restaurants.
7-Finally, it has easy access to other areas, like the keys, the caribbean, and through the airport, NY, DC, Atlanta ETC.

I can't tell if you're ignorant of the FL school rankings or trying to be a south FL cheerleader. None of those districts even crack the top 10. Check out Seminole, Brevard, Manatee and St Johns counties if you want really good schools.

This other stuff is debatable although I will agree Miami is the most significant city in the state. Siesta Key in Sarasota actually got voted best beach overall a few years ago.

I don't know if I would say South FL is the best part of Florida but it's certainly better than the North.

You're predicating your synopsis on the fact that one would enjoy living in an Urban environment and all that entails...

According to this, South Florida has two of the top 10 high schools in the COUNTRY, ten of the top 250, and twenty of the top 1000.

I misspoke when I said Manatee. I actually meant Sarasota. You're right, Manatee does suck. Seminole, Sarasota St Johns and Brevard are near the top. I got my rankings from here:

.
But it's still one of the cheapest major metropolitan areas to live in.

In north Jersey which is a metro area of NYC you won't find a cheap one bedroom in a sketchy area for what you can rent a decent one bedroom here for.

South FL offers the most diversity in things to do. It has beaches, nightlife, nature, cultural diversity, etc. There's something for everyone. Whether u fish, whether u want to top notch spas, world class beaches, to escape the winter cold, LGBT nightlife, museums, history, caribbean, etc. it's got something for everyone.

Also, south FL has the warmest winters.
