Hi All-

I am planning a Bachelorette getaway and Florida is on the list as a possible destination. We're a group of mid-late 20's and looking for a place with an awesome beach + night life and other attractions (food, activities) that is NOT Miami (lol). Reaching out to city-data because none of us are too familiar with Florida. Any recommendations?

I was looking at Key West and Siesta Keys earlier. Thoughts on these?

Ft. Lauderdale. Despite its proximity to Miami, it has everything you're looking for.

+1 for Miami.

Depending upon how much/what kind of night life you want, Hollywood/Hollywood Beach is fun too.

You can stay right on the beach for less than Miami. I don’t mind the mom and pop hotels for a weekend but they’re not for everyone.

Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville is new and there are a few others.

Haha just because it's so touristy and commercialized, not to mention a few of us has already been to Miami and only Miami beaches. Since FL is like BeachLand - we want to see if there was anything else that fits the bill that might be lesser known. We are looking for awesome beaches and night life.. but night life doesn't mean it has to be the more well-known clubs like in Miami. We are fine with local smaller clubs/bars too.

Forgot about Hollywood Beach. That's a good one. I agree with the OP about Miami. I'd avoid it, too.

The east coast of Florida is a series of really long beaches. Look for the nightlife you want and a beach will be close by.

Haha yeah but there are soo many beaches! It's like asking which NYC neighborhoods has good restaurants Any specific beaches that stands out that a local would recommend? That would help me narrow it down. An awesome beach is top priority, nightlife can come second. It's all the same once we are intoxicated anyways

Well I live in Lake Worth but go to Hollywood Beach. It has what they call the Broadwalk which is lined with restaurants etc. It is pedestrian/bicycle only.

It’s still kind of quaint and not as crowded as Miami or Lauderdale.

Just depends what you want or how much money you have to spend.

Some people prefer the west coast beaches. Last year I went to Clearwater Beach which was nice but the traffic made me nuts.

Delray has a nice beach too. Walkable downtown and nightlife right by the beach. You wouldn’t have to drive anywhere.

The only problem I had with Hollywood Beach is the parking. Make sure your hotel includes parking or you could be in a metered spot (with a discounted day right by the way) several blocks away.
