Care to tell us what Scott did to the waterways and water regulation during his time in office? Or do those facts not fit your agenda?

The point I’m making is increasing taxes, fees, red tape and then throwing endless streams of cash doesnt mean you will get cleaner air. Compare Florida to California. Democrats think money is the answer to everything. However, without an actual viable solution and plan, it’s just wasted money. That was my point back during the debate where Nelson had zero response to what he would do to improve Florida’s environment. It just means more taxes, fees and res tape with nothing to show for it.

This beemer dude is making a lot of sense. A huge portion of what government spends is wasted, and a sizeable portion of things they try to accomplish fails. That is why taxes are so high...ineffectiveness, no bid contracts, vendor graft, pay to play, so on and so on.

if you think these politicians are civically minded do gooders working for the peanuts we pay them, you are sadly mistaken.

My point is that regulations and enforcement matter. Scott cut close to a billion dollars from Water management and regulations/enforcement during his tenure and is a climate change denier who refuses to acknowledge the realities we are facing.

Thanks to scott, we have nasty waterways and if it were up to him, he would sell FL water access to oil drillers in a heartbeat: https://www.politifact.com/florida/s...-oil-drilling/

The bottom line is that Nelson isn't a climate change denier and has never supported drilling for oil off of FL's coasts. He also never cut funding for water quality enforcement.

Scott has. End of story.

Default Florida environment discussions in other threads

See posts 431 and 433 in this thread regarding efforts to mitigate the red tide, and continued obfuscations and prevarications on the issue by Florida's man-made climate change science deniers. Also learn how Florida environmental clean-ups likely will be negatively impacted by the loss of Democrat Bill Nelson as a FL U.S. senator and by the passage of the super majority requirement for the state legislature to raise taxes or fees.

See this thread for how the objective reality of man-made climate change will impact Florida in coming years and the immediate decades ahead.

Remember the cartoon back in the 60's and 70's Gulliver's Travels? There was that character named Glum who was always saying "we'll never make it, we're all going to die". Glum must have been an environmentalist.

Another beautiful day in Florida, and each day brings Thousands more snowbirds and vacationers to our beautiful state. The parking lot at the sales office at the front of our neighborhood is overflowing onto the surrounding grass and out along the street. There has to be a waiting line just to talk to a sales person. If I stopped any of them and asked about Florida's environmental catastrophe, they'd look at me like I was a nutjob, then call the police.

The economy's booming like it hasn't boomed in too many years to remember. New records being set each week on too many metrics to list here.

It just can't get any better than this for Florida. The future's so bright, I have to wear shades. Oh look honey, another Roseated Spoonbill!

Ask the scuba divers and fishermen about the disappearing Florida coral reef, which absolutely concerns you not one bit. Who cares about 70,000 lost jobs, certainly not man-made climate change science deniers. Why don't you ever, despite repeated requests, tell us what you think about the destruction of Florida's coral reef, one of the state's greatest natural assets?

Only a fool would argue that vacationers, let alone residents, are not concerned about toxic algal blooms, including red tide, or rising sea levels.

Your rose-colored blinders must be very, very heavy. I'm surprised that you can your head up, especially given the deceits that you spread so freely.

You aren't in Sarasota! Unless you are standing in the single spot between all the blooms!

At least Mote can study it well since the readings at their facility are 100X normal - on both sides of the island.
