Broward County says "not so fast" to the Kanter family who wants to drill on their land for oil. This article leads me to believe that there will be NO oil drilling in the Everglades...

Cliff notes from the article: The Kanters won a lower court approval, but that is only One of many hurdles they must jump over. While they are trying to jump over the rest of the hurdles, Congress can change the law to prohibit the drilling. Or, local governments can deny the Kanters permit request to change the land use from conservation to anything else.

The Kanters are wealthy, but I dont think they will be successful in bribing County, State, AND Federal politicians to allow drilling against public sentiment. Also, now that the issue is out in the open, this increases the risk for the politicians, and the Kanters.

One accident is all it takes to mess the land up. Look at the Gulf. I bet all the oil is still under water polluting the bottom feeder fish.
