It doesn't really change much. All it does is prevent employers from firing workers for keeping their guns in their cars while at work while parking on company property.

Unfortunately, it now requires the workers to get a concealed weapons permit in order to avail themselves of this protection.

I don't see where it helps a lot either. Do the employers still have a right to disallow firearms on their property? It seems ironic that some hospitals don't allow smoking on their property, even in your own car, but would now allow a gun.

The law will allow employees who have a concealed weapons permit to keep a gun in their car while parked in the employers parking lot. That's all. It's really nothing.

Until now (actually until the law is signed and takes effect) the employee could be fired for having a gun in the car if it was the employers written policy to prohibit it. That is what has changed now.

Non employees could always have a gun in their car, because they wouldn't be fired. It wasn't a crime, it was a work issue.

Does this law include local/state/federal agencies employees?

What if a burglar goes into the employee parking lot while you are working and steals the gun? Score for the burglar, defeats the purpose of the gun in the first place and now the burglar can go rob a bank. Happens all the time too (well usually they take the gun to the pawn shop but it's a way for criminals to obtain guns illegally). I'm all for gun rights but this law seems pointless and so does having a gun in your car if you are parked in the employee parking lot all day.

Doesn't this law make it easier for criminals to figure out where guns are available? I mean, if I were a criminal, I'd just look for a big employee parking lot and then I'd look for the cars that look like they belong to "gun rights" people. Chances are, those cars are going to have a gun somewhere inside of them, probably close to the driver's seat.

P.S.
Ha! Seems someone else thought of this too...

On another board I read, people were talking about carrying guns for protection. One guy posted something that I thought was funny. He said he didn't carry a gun and if someone wanted to hurt him, they were going to have to bring their own gun.
