Is anyone else in agreement with me that this goes a little too far? Isn't this an endorsement of a specific religion by the state?

Of course it goes to far. That's why it won't go anywhere.

Oh c'mon. Drivers have all their flags and whatnot hanging on their rear-view mirrors, why not a plate? If you dont like it, dont look at it.

I agree I don't really care, your attention should not be on the plate infront of you but rather the entire road in front of you.. Its no worse than anti abortion stickers , or bumper stickers with curse words, political stickers, people have the jesus fish all over their cars, or gay pride strips etc etc.. IMO its just another decoration

So you would be OK if the legislature approved a Budist Plate, a Jewish Plate, and an Athiest Plate then, right?

Or a plate honoring Islam.

Bumper stickers can be tasteless, but tags are state action. Big difference.

I think we have bigger fish to fry than worrying at all what kind of plates we have.. You want a buddist plate, go for it! Athiest, I say more power to ya.. This country is all about freedom of religon.. I'm sorry I just don't see the difference or how someone could NOT be offended by a jesus fish plastered on a car, but are offended by a license plate on a car... I just have to kinda scratch my head.

I's be pissed off if the Jesus fish was made by the state and sold at the tag office. Huge difference.

Anyone can propose another religious License plate. If this one passes they probably will.

What I don't get is how the state is endorsing it. People do not have to buy them and it is just extra revenue.

I am not in the least bit a religious person and this does not bother me at all but there are some that look for any reason to be bothered by something

Are people so insecure that they have proclaim religion at the expense of taxpayers? Religion is private. It should be kept private.
