Some labs are only reporting positive test results.....and reporting a 100% positivity rate...

...that would mean that all the people they tested were positive...which is not possible.....and driving up Florida's positive case numbers

Quote:
The Sunshine State’s health authorities misreported the number of persons testing positive for coronavirus in its aggregation and publication of test results from laboratories.
According to the latest publication of statewide test results from the Florida Department of Health, published on Friday, several testing facilities’ positivity rates for coronavirus tests were 27.66, 33.33, 37.10, 40, 43.13, 44.44, 50, 55, 57.14, 59.23, 60, 87.5, 91.18, and 100.

Twenty-two labs reported 100-percent positivity rates. Two labs reported 91.18-percent positivity rates.

Countless labs have reported a 100 percent positivity rate, which means every single person tested was positive. Other labs had very high positivity rates. FOX 35 found that testing sites like Centra Care reported that 83 people were tested and all tested positive. Then, NCF Diagnostics in Alachua reported 88 percent of tests were positive.

The report showed that Orlando Health had a 98 percent positivity rate........... Orlando Health’s positivity rate is only 9.4 percent, not 98 percent as in the report.

“The report also showed that the Orlando Veteran’s Medical Center had a positivity rate of 76 percent,” ........... the positivity rate for the center is actually 6 percent.”

It’s hard to overstate how botched this response has been at every conceivable level.

Scariest words in the English language “I’m from the government and here to help”

bullcarp.....Orlando Health is not some smaller, private lab....neither is the VA

Quote:
FOX 35 News went on to speak with the Florida Department of Health on Tuesday. They confirmed that although private and public laboratories are required to report positive and negative results to the state immediately, some have not. Specifically, they said that some smaller, private labs were not reporting negative test result data to the state.

Oh stop. This is EXACTLY why this bunk is making people nutty.

Did you look at the data?? The 100% cases were in places that tested a grand total of - ya ready? FIVE PEOPLE. Yep. Not 50 or 500 or 5000. FIVE. All of the "high percent" cases are in labs that tested very few folks. 91%? They tested 34 people, and 31 were positive. The bottom 200 labs probably didn't test 2000 people total (it's there, I just didn't feel like adding it up - I can see it's a long string of single digits...)

There is no scam here, just people trying to find something to complain about where there isn't anything.

So YES 100% is correct. That is the case, at least 15 labs. They tested ONE person, and it was positive. This is it? This is your big proof the 'Rona is a scam? Keep digging...
Overall they tested 300K people - and 270K of them were in the top 10 labs - of which the highest positive cases were 8.88%. If you don't trust the tiny labs - fine - throw them all out. That'll be less than 10% of the samples, and it changes absolutely nothing. 10% of the cases drove 100% of the investigation, this headline, and this post. What a giant waste of time and resources.

regarding the errors, I'll tell you why: Because we have an entire generation who thinks spelling and math don't matter, and can't see the difference between 98.0, 9.80 and 0.980 - and they have an editor who doesn't care. It's a typo. Nothing more. Not a scam. But in the end, if ALL those tiny labs were actually just lying scamming cheating thieves - the overall situation would not change. Accept it and move on.

While the story will only add fuel to the fire of the conspiracy theorists' confirmation bias, there's one thing keeping me from given them an ounce of credibility on their claims. The conspiracy being defined as a virus that is blown way out of proportion as a means to hurt Trump in an election year when the economy was working in his favor.

That one thing is that this virus is not an American phenomenon. It has impacted the world. We weren't the only country to shut down. Some have the opinion that we were one of the most lenient countries, hence our current struggle right American passports being effectively worthless right now. Are multiple countries willing to inflict economic carnage on themselves in the name of ousting an American president? Then they are working together to do that? I don't know...

Granted, I haven't delved too much into the conspiracy videos and websites to hear their side of the story, but it is as if they're thinking that America is the only country in the world that is dealing with the virus outside of its origination in China.

Thankfully those people haven't made their way on to this forum.
