She wanted to stay up in NY with the kids. Same thing. Bought the house and he is a permanent resident, she is still a resident in NY. In both cases one spouse travels to visit the other. The permanent resident spouse does live most of the year in FL. The northern spouses come down in the winter. They also file married filing separately taxes. It's all on the up and up.

It's all on the up and up until you are flagged and investigated. Then you are caught taking advantage of state and federal residency qualifying economic programs designed for full-time residents.

Good luck taking advantage of the system, I and another have advised you against it. Our hands are clean.

We are all going to spend 6-7 months a year in FL, but I am the only one who will get the residency changed to FL. Me and my wife are filing our taxes separately.

I had to have a voter registration card to get my drivers license. I think I needed four different things to switch from a SC license to Florida.

Keep in mind because a Florida Drivers License is a 'real ID' the requirements are stricter.

So I won't have the car registration when I will be applying for the DL.
Probably will change address in my bank accounts and wait for the letters.
Not true. I bought and registered my car in FL even though I had an out of state drivers license. I didn't get my FL drivers license for more than a year after my car was registered (and insured) at my FL address.
