Not the end all be all test, but I've seen maybe two California plates in Palm Beach and Broward counties in 2024 (I traverse the tri-county area frequently) so far.

I have seen at least 3 California plates this year in Tampa, and one Utah plate. Tampa is a destination for Californians in San Diego..........they think Tampa is the Florida version of San Diego.

Media still exists. You just have to go looking for it now as the mainstream sources can't be trusted.

They're just chasing after another gold rush, eventually will become less concentrated to just one region. I think the article is just another travel piece to help CA from it's current decline. It's one sector, it's not like a huge amount of people going to move back. People will go where it is economically viable for them. Every other tech right now is bad except for AI. Of course the VCs need to grab as many workers as possible to start new AI companies to get funding.

Can't win 'em all. Personally, I'd be happy to be Top 15-20, if I didn't have to pay West Coast prices.

Curious how FL compares to other states when it comes to Aerospace Tech.

We get a few of them here and there in the panhandle. Typically military folks who decided not to drop $800 or so to transfer their plate to Florida just yet. (Military is exempt from the ‘30 days after establishing residency to register a vehicle’ rules, though the folks coming from Vandenberg usually eventually switch over because it’s slightly cheaper on the registration side than keeping it titled in California) We also get a decent number of Alaska plates from folks who recently PCS’ed from Elmendorf.

I would venture to say quite high up there, considering Central FL (Orlando, Melbourne, Titusville) with Lockheed, NASA, etc. etc...?

The fact that the richest tech guy -- Bezos -- just relocated to FL tells you all you need to know.

The guy literally saved $600 million on his planned sale of Amazon stock.

SAVED $600 million.

Unless CA gets control over its spending and taxation, I expect a lot of other companies to exit the state. The savings are huge, even for the employees making six figures or above.
