The Florida keys are imho the best place in Florida.if/when a major hurricane goes thru i hope it spares the Keyes.
As Florida grows and everything is crazy the only thing that has stayed the same it is the Florida Keyes. It leads me to think when i'am there why would someone go to Jamaica,Other carrabean islands etc.
Anyone else feel the same piece and tranqulity when they visit there?

Like the rest of Florida, the Keys are not the same as they were even back in the 50's and 60's. I actually hate the Keys now and haven't gone there in years. My sister-in-law has place in Key West and my wifes nephew has a mobile home on one of the Keys I forget witch so to each their own.

The keys are still a fun place to fish for bonefish and the cudas are a blast to catch. I enjoy going down once or twice a year just for the fishing, and its a beautiful drive.

The Keys are still like no other place in Florida, its pricey but theres lots of money to be made here. I love it.

Been to Key West, wasn't impressed we stayed at the LaConcha on Duval so that's probably the reason,But we are planning our vacation for Early May and were considering Marathon Key and a few days in Naples or San Antonio or visiting his family in Minneapolis which if we pick Minneapolis I would prefer late June....Decisions Decisions

Go to the "quiet side" of the island. Closest thing to paradise in the continuous 48 states.

It's very not, humid and full of mosquitoes. taxes are sky high thanks to idiots driving up prices. There isn't much to do, and as the years go by, less freedom on the water. The marine patrol is always hovering around, I gave up tryimg to fish due to confusing rules and saltwater licenses ( never had that growing up) It hadrly ever rains to the Keys are usually dry and depressing. Key West is a dump and the people are not very friendly, it's boring to me. Key Largo still has some good residents , but we may all be leaving in the near future. As for a hurricane I hope it doesn't spare us, we need a good blow to give us much needed property tax relief.
