I have a good point when I make that challenge. I use the a/c all year round, just turned it on now, its 84 in my room, opening the windows lowers it to 82, still too hot! In my opinion, I dont think the weather is good, its too hot and I can not live without a/c! To those who say they love the heat so much and the weather is world class, I challenge you to go a week in the summer without a/c! If you can not do this then you have admitted its too hot and you need a/c to cool down!

I have to agree that a week in the summer without A/C would be horrible. Even though I know that you wont agree with me, I would also have to say that there are plenty of days in the winter where you could have the windows open both during the day and the night. Unfortunately, if you live in Miami you would have to worry about someone crawling through the open window.

If you are lucky enough to have a "cold" day where temperatures dip below 65 you can open the window and get the house below 80. I have had very few days that I can go without a/c and usually I sweat because of it, even with the window open. I guess I dont tolerate heat as well as you do.

I guess that there are many factors that may come into play. Tile flooring helps the house cool off. Insulation, position of the house, trees that provide shade and one's own body. I like to open the windows on cool days but my wife insists on keeping the A/C running. Guess who the winner is... Yep, the wife.

I also insist on running the a/c, opening the windows doesnt cool enough to keep me from sweating. Our house is always warm, even with a cold front it rarely dips below 70 indoors. Id love a heat effecient house when I move up north

I hope that you complete your happiness one day soon by moving somewhere where you will be happiest. I think life is too short to be unhappy.

NAH, that's a very good point that you're making. I couldn't make it up HERE all summer long with no AC and the humidity is much worse down there. But I'll bet that no one could make it in the northern states without heat either.

No Heat

Busted pipes – cold showers- wake up in the middle of the night to look for another blanket -- Frozen fingers toes and ears. Frozen locks windows and doors

Upside plenty of cold beer just can’t drink it because of the medicine your taking for pneumonia

Oh yes!!! And have you ever been locked out of your car because your doors froze shut and you can't get them open?

Or tried hopelessly to scrape a half inch of ice off the windshield and windows with one of those pathetic little scrapers
