Never really wanted to leave. Job market conditions forced it on me in '98. Wanted to come back for years.

Not sure now as it has changed quite a bit. It's probably not the place I left.

Ghetto culture encroachment seems to be happening around every nice area I knew of.

No, it's not ghetto everywhere. Most of the places I lived here are still ok. Orlando is a lot different, more crime. I lived in Winter Park, and was told by another member(Alphaman) it's still good there. It's not as bad as some people make it look...

A few years ago, Orlando was a cow town. Now it's becoming a real city.

*points and laughs* HAHA!! Orlando is far from a real city. It's probably the most artificial town in FL. It's like a wannabe city. It has no history or culture. The population is growing quickly, yet it still has a cow town infrastructure and a worthless downtown area. It's more like a giant suburb.

But I'm sure you'll beg to differ.

That's what people said years ago about LA too...

You can't judge new, innovative cities like Orlando, Jax and LA based on old places like Boston and NY.

I at least beg to differ on that. Every place has history and culture. It might not have history or culture that you are particularly interested in, but those things are unavoidable by the mere fact of a place existing and having some human population--it's just everything that happened somewhere and the concatenation of the residents' behavior and beliefs, with an emphasis on commonalties at least in subpopulations.
