For 30 years, I have had a Jaguar and Classic British Auto restoration and parts business in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale,Florida. Downtown development forced a move to a smaller warehouse, now crammed to the roof with my 30 year hoard of rare parts; leaving me no room for restoration. There are no storage yards left in this city; and I realize I would be wise to move upstate. I bought a computer , posted a website(www.jaguru.net ), and started an eBay store (Old English Motor Company); and now sell my incredible parts inventory all over the world. I realized, I could do this from a small town or even a rural area. I like lake County; which reminds me of where I grew up; Chautauqua County , New York, but could really move almost anyplace with good internet and cellphone (Cingular/AT&T) coverage. I would prefer to be South of Ocala. Is there anything near Tavares/Eustis/ Mt Dora? Apopka has been suggested to me as being less costly.. I need a big old building at least 8,000 feet. My main business is internet parts sales, but I would like to do some British service and restoration; and probably have a small museum. My business and I always attract positive publicity and media coverage, and customers like to visit whenever they are in Florida or the US. I would strongly affect both the community, and local inns and B&B's. I would prefer an older, possibly historic building, and would be active in any local historic movements.Obviously, my move would benefit local British car enthusiasts ;and probably add more Old English cars; and their charming aura to the area... Does anyone know of a huge old factory, citrus or railroad building, old auto dealership; Barn,or similar structure they could suggest? I need a lot of space and low overhead; but would make a positive impact on any community I move to... You may also reach me at jamesdean@jaguru.net , or dial 1954JAGUARS, or toll free 1 877 524 8787. Thank you, James Dean

Hello Mr. Dean,

I used to live in Tarpon Springs, just outside of Tampa. There was a local Jag shop called Jag's plus. It didn't fare well and closed down a couple of years ago. I know several Jag owners in that area that would be delighted to have another Jag sop in town again. The North Pinellas/Pasco County area is great if you're looking for affordable commercial space. Your internet busienss should have good success with low overhead. The road infrastructure is also good, something that can't be said for Central Florida. Jag's Plus was located just off Alternate 19, I think it was called Lime Ave?

Mr, Dean. i just read your post dated 2/07. RE: location south of Ocala. we currently have a listing that just may fit your needs. the property is on 441 just south of Ocala and currently has a traffic count of 30,000 cars a day. I'd love to have the listing agent discuss the possibility and send you a perspectus.
good luck

You need to email him, that post is old and he has not made one since. I doubt he will see your answer.

I collect vintage cars, and can tell you Sarasota would be a strong area for this. We had our long-time Aston Martin guru pass away recently, and a Jag guys has gotten ill. He's closed. There is one Jag guy left that's marginally decent (on a good day) and he's always so booked he won't even talk to you. Jags, A/Ms, Rolls/Bentley, Rover are all very popular here and getting someone good under the hood is not always easy. We would welcome anyone good!
