While Citizens changes may seem to be odd, their rates are so high because they are the insurance company for those who can't get other insurance. By dropping screen enclosures (and not all blow down in every storm by the way) and sinkholes into addtional coverage options instead of with the blanket policy, those with enclosures or at risk for sinkholes can elect to insure for them or not. This action clearly will drop rates for those not choosing the coverage.

the only reason we can not get insured is no company will insure in all of pasco . I jusy today heard this on the news. You now can elect to have citizens? why some other companies now have higher rates?

why can't the gov't end this 20 per-cent higher rule.

Why is it that companies don't want to write insurance in some areas? is the risk really that bad? Hurricanes are a VERY rare occurrence in Florida.
