Well, I started in 1995 making $8.00 an hour as an assistant super, worked my way up and my average is about $14-$18 per hour depending on the size of the property, management company, I am HVAC certified. Some properties give you free rent, and even pay your utilities.

By Florida standards yes it sure is. At this point in the economy $10.00 is good.

that being said can we own a home with that? I mean it would be 2 decent incomes coming in (again I hope), a big reason for moving there is the affordability of the homes. While I know my salary would be considerably lower, basically by half. As long as I can afford my own home without having to eat soup for 10 years, I think I'll be okay. What do you think?

No love - half of what I make here which would have me around 45K and him around 40K, but that is more than 18 an hour, so I'm not sure now.

Hey, Chris. How are You? Well, I most CERTAINLY know what it is like to move someplace for a job. HIS job, not mine. My older daughter just moved back to NY today after 4 months. Although she was hired by one company while still here, she has another interview on Friday. The one on Friday is offering more money. If she gets that one, she will tell the other one goodbye.

It can be done, even here in Florida. because that is what I did. Pit two places, actually three if you count the one I ignored who kept calling, against each other. If they want you badly enough, they will keep increasing their offer, even in FLORIDA.

Good luck. I am working on my husband, and his company, to see if they will let him TELECOMMUTE. Hell, if they were willing to let a new employee telecommute from Denver, maybe they will let a CURRENT 5 year employee do the same from NY.

It has just starting to heat up here. Had the AC going all day yesterday. Summer is on it's way.

Hell, I work for the school district, and not all year, and make more than that.

Well, I will give you that Naples is more expensive than other places in Florida, and because of that, they pay more.
