Well, since it is a commercial on TV, doubt is the first thing that comes to mind. What else would they say? Don't come, we are not friendly???

I have done some research and it appears to me to be a Disneyland kind of place. Built to match to make as many people "happy" about being there as possible. As safe as they can realistically make it.

But friendly is only as good as the people you meet and interact with. I would say that if the residents have less stress and if their neighbors are all "like them", they may find it easy to be friendly.

It does appear to be non diverse. To buy or rent you have to have a certain amount of income and want the facilities they provide. I saw no pictures of other ethnic groups in the advertisements and of course there is no affordable housing in the Villages.

The Friendliest Hometown.... I agree with cariad. My Internal Med Specialist (who is in the Villages) remarked about that exact same issue.

It MUST be a "FRIENDLY" Adult Community where you can Live the Millionaires Lifestyle (like Hugh Hefner) on your Retirement Funds! Wooo Hooo! I need to ask my Aunt and Uncle, they are residents there.

My parents are looking at moving there, so they have been taking trips to spend time there. On my parents first visit they made friends with 3 people, and on their recent trips back they have since had dinner or gone out for happy hour with their new friends. So it just may be the friendliest place. They are very friendly to one another as the news said, The Villages has a high rate of sexually transmited diseases there, so they must be very friendly to one another.

Everyone has their own opinion, of course.
I've driven around the Villages a bit, and yes it is a one of a kind place.
It all depends what you like.
I'm more of a rural kind of a guy, and I thought the Villages was Too big and too busy....the traffic is bad.
Now, that being said, I met a guy who was from NYC, and he told us he loved it there because of it's rural setting.....

I bought in The Plantation, which is about 11 miles south of there. there are many 55+ communities around there, very many. They are all a bit different. The villages is a one of a kind place.......like comparing a superwalmart to a lot of nice boutiques surounding it.

Many people who live in those other smaller senior communities say that the villages is a nice place to visit, but they would not want to live there...although with 30,000 to 100,000 seniors moving there, obviously it is the choice of some people.
