out of my 3 trips to florida, only once, did i encounter mosquitoes (in key largo), and only saw 1 cockroach! (on the A1A bridge in ft lauderdale) somethings telling me that perhaps many of the bug populations were drowned by all the hurricanes, especially in 2004 and 2005. by the way, i even climbed a cabbage palmetto in the town of crystal river and did not see any "palmetto bugs"!!!

Folks I lived in Florida for 24 years and I never remember a spider problem. Now Palmetto bugs, that's something else, but not spiders. I see bigger spiders where I am now near Memphis...

Man and I thought the "will a yankee be accepted if he moves to the south" post was ridicoulous.

I lived in s.fl for 25 years.im in mcdonough ga now for a year. i have seen so many bugs/spiders in one year here, that I have never seen in fl in the 25 years I have been there. The only things that are annoying are ants in fl and moscitios. you will see a harmless snake here or there but not many spiders. i cant stand them eather. in ga is horrible with bugs.i have see one black widow the whole time i lived there, and that was because my bug man sprayed under my hot tub outside. believe me, theres way more bugs up north than there is in fl.
