I think that would give a good indication if people are happy or not.

Most surveys have a sampling of maybe 5000 people. I am sure it takes a bit longer to survey 1.3 million people.

Some of the sampling was done in 2005 but it went on through 2008.

If you move here for reasons other than the above, you have a totally different perspective on things. Yes, I have met these people too, but they are few and far between here.
What put NY dead last?

DITTO....It is no coincidence that the states at the top of the list have warm weather and New York is last. Our weather here sucks and the weather down south is much better. Not to mention the lack of personal income tax in FL which is very appealing to most people.

And Frank, you forgot about how the salt on the roads rusts out your cars and turns them in to piles of garbage after only a few years. While down south its so odd to me when I see these 1980's cars and trucks drivin around that look mint! In New York those cars have been turned in to scrap 10 years ago!

I defeinitely see why the warmer/sunnier states are near the to of the heap! That is important to most people.

Angry, miserable people in NY (NY was last remember?) that move down to FL for better weather and lesser taxes dont always make happy people. It's interesting that NY is last and FL is 3rd, yet FL has millions of NY'ers. And yet (and no offense to Frank, Chelsa, other awesome and friendly NY'ers) but a lot of the impatient/get outta my way types that drive us natives crazy are many times from NY/NJ.

Exactly. But many still seem angry/impatient. Glad they're happier but just settle down and shed that NY aggression already.

HaHa.....I don't think I have that, but as I've said before, I'm hours away from NYC, in a land of cows. I have acreage. Big cities scare me.

Yes, I almost mentioned that up here because of the salt, if you go out in your garage real late at night and listen really carefully.......you can hear the rust eating your car. Add to that the more front end alignments from hitting all of the potholes. This week, because it is in the teens, every car is gray with salt and you cannot wash it off until it gets above freezing, which may be weeks. Can't read a license plate, etc. Or having to start your car 20 minutes ahead of time so you can see out the windshield, so your not like the fools who scrape a 3" circle off the windshield and drive looking out that peephole.

And how about the hundreds of pounds of ice that sticks to your wheelwells to the point where you try tokick them off, only to break your toe

It always amazes me how clean everyone's car is in Florida. That alone saves thousands a year.

Frank
