You can eat healthy at Panera - I get the Asian chicken salad without the wonton strips and only use a sprinkling of dressing - it is well under 300 calories for a huge salad and low in fat....and the chicken noodle soup is very low fat and low calorie...I get an apple instead of the bread - you just need to know how to eat wherever you go.

We eat breakfast at Subway once in a while - a whole wheat English muffin with egg white and fresh vegetables (they are good tasting fresh vegetables by the way) - 160 calories (under 4 grams of fat because I skip the "ham" and it has good protein)...again you can eat healthy good tasting food when you are out - you just have to think about what you are putting in your mouth.

I forgot about Au Bon Pain! I hadn't seen one in years and figured they went out of business. I remember eating at one in the mall over 20 years ago--I think they were around before Panera. It was such a pleasant change to be able to order a healthy sandwich or soup instead of the greasy fast food at the food court. I'm glad they are still around.

I've really only seen Au Bon Pain in mall and airport food courts, but they're out there.

I kind of like Wendy's for at least having more options. You can get a burger and a fruit salad or baked potato. It's still a splurge, but you don't have to completely fall off the wagon.

I would give 3 Publix subs for one Subway sub, and I go to both every week.

Too bad Burgerville isn't a bigger chain, they would have made the list.
