We like to have Oyster Stew w/ those oyster crackers, maybe a shrimp cocktail and some good French type bread.

Oh, and a glass of White wine

Happy trails,

HW

and Very Christmas to All

I typically make a nice dinner but leave the big spread for Christmas. This year, we'll eat the big meal on Sunday, the day after, because I don't want to be messing around in the kitchen that early. I'd make the feast for Christmas Eve but our relatives are arriving late that evening. So Sunday works best.

I found a recipe for crawfish chowder that I think I will make on Christmas Eve. Oyster stew sounds good too. Something I can keep warm so people can eat when they get here.

Nope, I'm busy doing last minute things for Christmas day. I might have a beer, but that'll be it.

We have the Roasted Pork Butt Roast, with mashed potatoes, corn, brown gravy, and for a snack just before we turn in for Christmas morning we have a Pork Sandwich with a little gravy used as dressing.

Merry Christmas to All

Nope. That was a tradition that I started many years ago.

I'm thinking about making a huge crock pot of gumbo this year.

Usually Lasagna but we are thinking of doing a pan each of meat and cheese stuffed shells.
I used to be able to buy lasagna sheets from where I worked it made putting together a pan 1-2-3.
Stuffed shells are a pain in the butt.

We always have prime rib on Christmas Eve with all the fancy stuff. On Christmas Day it's more restfull..a big brunch and then a less elaborate dinner, like pasta.

My in-laws are 100% Italian and I’m part Italian but the Irish in me shines through……….that being said, my FIL bangs out a semi-traditional seafood Christmas Eve. It is awesome, he starts with plenty of fresh clams on the half-shell, oysters, shrimp cocktail, then we fry up the calamari, the smelts, and feast on escargot and stuffed clams from the oven. The whole time we are staring at the large pot of tomato sauce with lobster which will go over linguini. We also have a baked casserole of shrimp and scallops.

I serve as bartender and kitchen aide………….front row seats for the eats !!!!

Christmas eve is my FAVORITE eating holiday-
We have all seafood-
Seafood salad (scungilli, calamari etc) - Jumbo shrimp cocktails, oysters, baked clams, lobster tails, stuffed sole, flounder, stuffed calamari, it just goes on and on. LOVE CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER!

Mine too!
It's funny, because most of the year I eat lightly.
But I pour it on when it's Christmas Eve!

When we were in Colorado, it was always a beef menu for Christmas Eve, with Yorkshire Pudding and trifle for dessert.
We are doing that this year (tenderloin).
But we did the Feast of the Seven Fishes a few years ago and it was a big hit.

I also love oyster stew, but now that we live in Florida, we really like to either roast them or eat them fresh on the half-shell.
