Small Hass here are easily found 4-5/$1 at the international market.

I live in an area with a huge Hispanic (and other ethnic) population. I love how it drives down the cost of many food items!

On average, 2 fer a dollar at the groceria or a bag of 5 or 6 for around $3 at the farmers market.

I get them free from a neighbor which is good & bad because we're talking 2 dozen soft at one time, and guacamole does not freeze well at all!

But at the Farmer's market I've seen 5 or 6 small Hass for $1.50 (bland watery), or $1 for medium/larger tastier ones.

$0.50 to $1 at the local farmers markets though for some reason most of the super markets charge more. I'm lucky in that I have an avocado tree in my backyard so I'm normally trying to give them away rather then buy them.

I don't buy the little ones because I find their quality really unreliable (or reliably awful.. ).

The big ones will go on sale for $1 fairly often, and that's when I buy them. I think the regular price is $1.99.
The pack of 5 always great avocados from Costco has varied between $6 and $8 depending on the season. I believe I saw them, the same bag, at Costco in California in March for under $5 though. Less travel expenses.
