I like the butter idea. I've heard that before. I'm wondering, does it have to be eaten immediately? I'm wondering if it would make the bread "soggy" or something after a few hours. ...And what about the artificial butter spray?

I actually like the kind of ham they have at subway. If I could find grocery store ham like that I would be happy.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Butter will seal the bread against sogginess. Butter spray is water, so no way will this be a good idea.
Publix has a sliced italian loaf that makes really awesome sandwiches.
