There are so many ways to fix and eat them and there are very few vegetables with fewer calaries but still healthy::;

My favorite are the skinny english cukes. They are a lot more expensive but last a long time, reg cukes only last a few days. Of course if you are growing them and pick them fresh they last a lot longer. We rarely peeling them, we like them in sour cream and vinegar or just vinegar and nothing else. They also are great on sandwhiches, they add crunch and in the summer, when they are fresh, I like them on toast for breakfast.

As for thickness, I prefer them thin if using them on a sandwhich or toast, but thicker or cubed for salad. They even make a good salad, with just tomatoes, onions and a vinegrette dressing. The ones we used to get, years ago did cause indigestion to a lot of people but most of the varieties today do not cause the any problems.

I recently rediscovered them this summer but I have some questions

do you like yours sliced really thin or in chunks

Chunks.

do you peel your cucumber

Take a paring knife, take the green skin off, then slice in chunks.

how often do you buy a cucumber

Once a week.

why do they make me burp

Not a food scientist, but my theory is their alkaline makeup interacting with stomach acid.

how long do they generally last in the fridge

About a week

do your children like them

I doubt it.

what is the difference in taste between regular cucks and pickling ones

I don't know. I know a pickle is a cucumber preserved with vinegar and brine.

That is all.

do you like yours sliced really thin or in chunks -- sliced
do you peel your cucumber -- only when using in a recipe such as tzatziki sauce or calico dip
how often do you buy a cucumber -- once a week or so
why do they make me burp -- I never noticed this!
how long do they generally last in the fridge -- about 4-5 days...I toss them when the get soft.
do your children like them -- No
what is the difference in taste between regular cucks and pickling ones-- Not sure

I like to slice them up and eat with sliced tomatoes and cottage cheese.

I peel mine and either slice them thin for a salad, sliced thick in cucumber, tomato, onion salad, or in chunky strips for dipping. I prefer English cucumbers.

They never last long in my fridge 'cause I crave them like most people crave candy or sweets.

I like cucumbers... Sliced or in chunks
I peel fresh cucumber because of the waxy hard skin, I do not peel if pickled
I do buy them frequently, use for salads or just slice for my sandwich
They do not make me burp, but they are somewhat hard to digest
I don't store it in the fridge
My family love it
There are many ways to eat cucumber: fresh in salads, breaded and fried, stuffed, pickled, as a soup, just as a cucumber salad ( with vinegar kind of dressing, or sour cream, diced onions and dill ), added to cooked dishes, .....

Skin off if your "standard" cucumber. The skin is too thick and waxy.

I prefer English or hothouse cucumbers - they are moister and there is no need to peel them as the skin is thin. Rice wine vinegar and salt are good on them.

Also good julienned in plain yoghurt with mint or cilantro and some cayenne. Look up raita recipes. Goes great with curries.

(a) sliced really thin and in salads, yum! They are also wonderful with Thai food and that dressing/sauce you get with many of those items (e.g. spring rolls) ... very refreshing!

(b) nope, never peel 'em

(c) whenever I remember! Actually your post reminded me that I should add them to my shopping list the next time I buy salad stuff, as they are easy to forget!

(d) lol, no idea, they don't have that effect on me!

(e) hmmm ... a week or two, although they usually don't last that long

(f) no kids, just cats ... have never fed them cukes

(g) no idea ... have never bought the pickling kind!
'
I just went grocery shopping earlier today AND I FORGOT THE CUCUMBERS!
