I rarely buy them because I do not like how messy it gets taking the chicken off the bone. It is just too greasy (maybe it is just juice, but it seems like grease) for me. However, the cats love it.
My brother's cat is crazy about the lemon-pepper chicken... that's about the only thing he'll eat!
I haven't had a grocery store rotisserie chicken in a loooong time. I stopped buying them when I realized they had trans fats and other weird things in it.
Once every month or two. I use them for making chicken tacos and green chili chicken enchiladas. We rarely eat the chicken by itself. I'm not sure why. I guess I never bought them when the kids were still at home because we are just white meat eaters, except for hubby who occasionally will eat a leg. There was never enough meat for all of us. Now that the kids are gone, I guess I should pick one up occasionally. It would make for a quick meal.
Here they sell for between $4.99 and $8.99, depending on the store.

like you, we use them for a lot of things, but not just by themselves except for when we get them and have had a long shopping day. Then, I will serve them for dinner. After that it is tacos, chick salad, whatever...
as for them having things like trans fats, i don't know and I figure, if you are only eating them once in awhile, I don't think you will die...We try to keep the fats down, as well as the carbs, but if we have to watch everything that goes into our mouth, it takes the fun out of eating.
Never!!!!
Once was enough. made the whole family SICK!!
There is nothing worse than trying something the first time and getting sick. I would never try it again either and that is too bad , cause they really are good...
Every couple of months we'll use one. We'll eat the breasts and drumsticks, then pick the thighs and the rest of the carcass clean for tacos the next day.
I've never gotten a salty one, or a dry one, or a raw one. Someone is screwing up if that is happened.
