I have a nice set of ramekins (single-serving-sized baking dishes), usually used for fixing individual-sized banana breadlets or maybe vegetarian haggis loaflets. But they don't get as much use as they might. I'm tapping the membership here for some ideas. What do you fix in your ramekins? (Recipes welcome!)
Creme Brulee. That was all the excuse I needed to buy a set for myself. And a blowtorch, for flaming the caramelized sugar topping.
When not in use for desserts, I set one out with a few tablespoons of cider vinegar and a drop of dishwasher detergent in it. Best fruit fly trap in the world!
I have several sets of ramekins in 4 oz, 6 oz and 8 oz sizes. I use them when cooking for a group of friends, making individual baked veggie enchiladas, veggie lasagne, or rice casseroles.
When we make veggie enchiladas sometimes I just put out a variety of ingredients and each person makes his own, choosing the veggies, amount of jalapenos, etc.
I need to get some to experiment with. Just thinking about a deep dish type peanut butter cookie. Filled with hot fudge.
