A 47-year-old woman’s lower back, arm, leg and hip pains have been linked to her daily consumption of a super-strong pitcher of tea, according to findings from a medical team at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit.

After experiencing the pain for five years, the woman’s aches were directly linked to 17 years of drinking a pitcher of tea each day made from 100 to 150 tea bags, according to a writeup in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Super-thick tea made woman's teeth brittle, bones hurt, scientists find | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

My son sent me that link, because I am a tea drinker.

Now I am not a 150 a bag a day drinker! That's nuts!!

I do drink tea pretty much all the time though. Black, no sugar. You just can't win I guess. I don't drink soda, I RARELY drink alcohol, I also drink lots of water, I try and avoid fast food, fried foods. There's always something bad about something you don't think is bad!

It is true that it seems like everytime we turn our heads someone is telling us that something we eat or drink is bad for us. In this case I think it is a matter of extremes. Most anything that we use to that amount of excess cannot be good for us.

Even water is deadly if you drink too much of it.

But who on earth would be -- what, addicted to the caffeine? have such numb taste buds? -- as to want to make tea that strong? Who even has the money for 150 tea bags a day, for pete's sake?

Proof that beer is the best way to go!

What the heck was this person thinking when adding that many bags to a pitcher? How did they get that many in there to begin with? Wow!

That's just insane! That's over 50,000 tea bags a year. She must buy it by the gross... at Sam's Club!
And then there's the mess... over 1,000 soggy teabags discarded every week.

What was that the Greek's used to say... Everything in moderation?
