No, but eating it can. It's one food I just can't stand and won't eat for anything. When I was little and we had stuffed cabbage, I'd only eat the inside.

I know, right. That would make any stew, soup or casserole containing cabbage (or sauerkraut) toxic. I don't think so.

My mother's adice included the following gems: That your belly button was to keep your butt in place - if you unbuttoned it, your butt would fall off. Also that if you talked too much as a child, you're use up all the words inside and wouldn't have any left when you grew up. (Guess who talked too much LOL!) Also that greens, such as spinach, were the only types of food that would make you grow muscles.

I think I figured out these were all malarkey by about age eight, though.

Reminds me of the old possum tale that a female possum gives birth through her nose. (This is all posted right here on CD.)

LOL nope. Did not grow up in the US. Missed many common cultural references.
(Although yes, I am aware of his habit of chugging canned spinach to make his biceps pop. Or something like that.)

The best thing to get rid of a sore throat is cooked cabbage with cayenne pepper. Probably good for the sinuses too.
