I just read that a person isn't suppose to have red meat more than 3 times a week. Does that include chicken and bacon. What about liver worst and salami?
All meet from mammals, 4-legged livestock, is considered red meat, so bacon would be red meat, but chicken (poultry) & fish would be considered white meat.

I always considered red-meat to be beef and beef only.. (hence the term "red" (after it blooms)
If you are striving for good health you might want to include pork and poultry when eating meat only 3 times a week. Include more grains and nuts in your diet.
The Pork Association bills Pork as the "other white meat", but technically Pork is considered red meat by the USDA. Hogs are much leaner than they used to be so I think the pork products contain less fat than beef.

nope, but bacon can be pretty high in sodium, and fat,. Liverwurst and Salami also have a lot of sodium and fat, why do you think they are soooo soooo soooo yummy?
Even if they don't fit the definition of "red meat", the recommendations are for health reasons. Liverwurst and salami are horrible, full of saturated fats and salt, and in the case of salami and bacon, nitrates, which have been linked to cancer. I would think they should be extremely limited and not eaten on a weekly basis. Bacon, too should be limited if you are trying to eat for heart health.
Here is part of the label for nutrition info for liverwurst. Note that one serving has more than a full day's worth of fat, saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol. It has almost 40 grams MORE fat, 4 times as much cholesterol and more than twice the sodium of a Big Mac.

Chicken properly prepared should be fine. Bacon ,liver worst and salami not real healthy.
