Sugar, saccharine, aspartame, and others seem to be evil and not at all good for you. Hoping this one will fare better.

I don't care what FDA approves. They approved lots of crap banned in other nations.
Sugar and artificial sweeteners are evil. Period.

BTW: why do we need stuff that is approximately 37 000 times sweeter than sucrose?

Fantastic news for those of us with diabetes. It's sugar that is the #1 evil.

Trade cancer for diabetes?

The only thing that I think is a good sugar "substitute" that doesn't seem to spike blood sugar is fresh stevia leaves, not overly processed stevia power. They're on sale at many nurseries around this time of year.

I googled it and read a bit about it, but what about it makes you like it better? Does it actually taste better than other sugar, or do you like that it is less processed, or....???

The biggest problem with artificial sweeteners is that it tricks your body into thinking it is getting some sweet and calorie dense food but then it doesn't get the calories it anticipated. I think this will just make you hungrier. I have tried Stevia and that seemed to make me hungry and crave carbs. I will just have sugar in moderation and attempt to limit its intake.
