There are a couple of small strip shopping centers a short walk from my house. I can get take-out (if I really wanted it) from a Chinese place, a Pakistani place, a Subway Sub shop, and a doughnut shop. It's been a very long time since I've done so because none of those places are that good.
We live in a very walkable location. There is a Boston Market right around the corner, also an Applebee's on the corner and they offer take-out meals. Arby's and Subway are close-by too, along with a local joint, Lenny's Burgers. Reporting from Glendale, AZ.
The closest two are a so-so Thai place and a so-so taqueria, Both are about 100 feet from our front door. If you expand that to 200 feet we've got a KFC, a great Japanese Izakaya/Sushi place, a solid pizza place, two Cuban sandwich places, and four more taquerias (two of them are very solid). At 400-500 feet there's a few dozen places including everything from Subway and McDonald's to German and Lebanese.
There is a Subway, Papa Johns, a dingy Italian pizzeria with rude service, and a locally owned burger joint about 4 blocks from my residence. This is only a town of 6,000 and there are many diners and take away places within the town limits. If you go on the highway that takes you out of town, there is a shopping center with all the usual chain places like Chick fillet, Five guys, McDonalds. The town had very little when I first moved here 20 years ago. Now it's being built up as it's becoming a bedroom/commuter community.
I am steps (less than a 1/2 mile) from a Chinese take out place, cupcake place, Greek eatery/market, Portugese market, and small Spanish diner/restaurant. There's also a 7-11 just a small distance away too.
I live in the suburbs with a plethora of restaurants of all types within 2 miles. I kid you not to say that I have a choice of at least 5 chinese takeaways within a mile and they are all busy. Funny thing is I favor one that's 4 miles away and pass tons of them to get to it. But it's the tastiest one. Hunan chicken, nom nom nom.
I have around 240 take away places within one mile of my house
