OP I think this thread has done a perfect example emphasizing the one and only truth: It doesn't matter WHAT you eat, you can find someone to tell you not to eat it.
If you like your diet Coke, drink your diet Coke. Unless you're drinking 6 a day, I don't think you need to worry about it.
Pepsi One used to have Splenda and it was great, then they stopped making it. I haven't yet tried the new diet coke with Splenda.
Diet Pepsi is switching to Sucralose (Spenda) with first shipments starting August 2015. They are removing the Aspartame from Diet Pepsi and replacing it with Spenda. 1 more month and you should start seeing the new Diet Pepsi in supermarkets.
I eat a good diet and workout but my weakness is Diet Coke with Splenda to start off each day. I don't really like and am too lazy to make coffee.
What's the latest on this?
Well, I think I've been around throughout the entire range of artificial sweeteners, and I wouldn't touch a one of them. Reason: the products do not go thru enough testing before they're made available, it's impossible to know long-term health effects, and after they've been on the market for a few years it's like the government goes 'oops.'
Not meaning to be flip or anything, but maybe you could develop a taste for a fruit or vegetable juice that doesn't have artificial sweeteners- health benefits + low in calories.
I see Fatcartpeople at Walmart buying cases of that cr@p..........makes no sense to me. Sure, an occasional treat......but case upon case of junk, fail.
I think if you drink that junk very occasionally, it is not that big of a deal what kind of
sweetener/frankensweetener it has in it.

I've had the new diet pepsi with splenda, it's pretty good I guess, but not what I remember Pepsi One tasting like. It's only an occasional treat for me, I mostly drink water or coffee.
