Scallops, which are great, broiled or deep fried.

Clams

Soft-shell crabs

Oysters which are great if fried but not otherwise

I'd have to say scallops, but none of those really taste just like mussels. I think mussels have a milder taste than scallops, and not as sweet.

I like all your other seafood examples except for soft shell crabs. Never had one, can't get beyond the idea of eating them that way. I do love crab, boiled and in the shell.

I have to go with clams. But love all of the ones named, just different flavor.
But taste is different to each person, so there really is no true answer to the question.

I'd have to say clams, too, in terms of taste AND texture.

Mussels taste muddy to me. I want to like them but just can't.

Then you've never had a properly cleaned and prepared mussel. Try a green lipped mussel and tell me it tastes muddy.

If you don't like clams, stick with the scallops. I don't have an answer, because I like all of them.
