I have slurped a few down raw ... but I much prefer them either sauteed and firmed up alittle in a fry pan or cooked in the shells on the grill.

Lots of simple easy to add sauces spice and cheeses to add alot of flavor to them

I can honestly take them or leave them. Some people go nuts over them, myself I have not had any at all in over 10yrs. Thats how indifferant I am to them.

I will indulge if they show up at a big cookout and I am in the mood to try them. But there are many other food choices I will gladly take that are available at the same time the oysters are. Typically I will leave them for the connoisseurs to enjoy

Gulp it right down but put some hot sauce on it, and a squeeze of lemon juice. That's how my dad ate it

I like them on the grill, too. Hold the cheese.

Very small amount of shredded parmesan cheese as a topper. After the hot sauce and whatever else you like on them

I got no problem with the toppings being suggested but the thought of biting and swallowing something akin to a very undercooked boiled egg is getting my gag reflex working just thinking about it, i think to avoid what might be a very embarrassing and messy moment i'll consider passing on the parties oysters.

I have never understood why people that are describing things they don't like, seem to really lay on the graphics. My typical response to something I don't like is to just say, "I really don't think I would like them." Case closed. I don't have any interest in referring to how they look to some people (bo-----) or gag reflexes, etc, etc. Just say no......<s>
Good thread though about one of my favorite foods.

I can understand that because I have a world class heightened gag reflex...just not for oysters. The tongue scraper is an event.
