Well I said healthiest. Subway would have the least amount of fat (if you limit and mayo and cheese), and it least you have the option of adding a lot of veggies for some fiber. Instead of fries at McDonalds you can get baked chips at Subway.

IMO they are in trouble because of the competition with other fast food restaurants. It got worse when they stopped offering the $5 footlong. Most other FF places have value menus. You can rarely get out of a Subway for less than $7 and that is just for a 6" sandwich nothing fancy. A 6" sub with chips and a drink and you at around $10.

As for the food it's just OK. The fact that it's fairly quick, customizeable and they're convenient are the only draws for me. It's something different when you're sick of burgers or pizza. Some of their choices aren't too bad. My faves are the BMT, Steak and cheese and their roast beef is OK too and that carved roasted turkey they had a few months back was pretty good. At least it was real turkey. I stay away from anything chicken there. I do find, especially in the location near work, that they are very stingy with the condiments but they will accommodate with some prodding.

I like them enough that I would be sad if they do not survive. That said I will stopping at Jersey Mike's today on my way home.

I hated the v cut. They did it shallow, and could use less meat and cheese and still make it look stuffed.

But the main reason we don’t go to Subway? I got diabetes. Nothing on their menu is good for me.

I agree completely

That style cut was such a smoke and mirrors scam on the customers. As you stated, a minimal amount of meat and veggies jammed into the tiny slit they made created the 'appearance' of a sandwich stuffed to the point of over flowing. When in actuality the sandwich was filled with far less ingredients ( under the surface illusion they falsely created )

Subways will always be around moving forward... there will just be far fewer of them. And sooner or later they are going to have a complete menu overhaul and have to start selling what the people are wanting to buy. Simply offering decent freshly sliced meats would likely boost their sales 10-20% if they changed nothing else. America has wisened up to those slimy little prepackaged bags of week old sliced ham chicken turkey etc ...

Little Caesars is making a comeback and is one of the minority of companies with an ownership group who isn't a steaming pile of you know what. They have done a lot for the rebirth of Detroit and are an example of what American companies should be.

Only since 2004. Little Caesar's began showing up in Kmart stores in the 90s, when Kmart was based in Troy, Michigan. That's the connection, not some supposed association based on the financial health of either company.

Weird.
Please find the word "inexpensive" in the paragraph you quoted. Thank you.

BTW there are at 4 little Cesar Pizza places on LI, 3 of them are in Suffolk. For the person that called it a V cut it's called a hinge cut and if not cut right and an inspector is watching you get written up. Ridiculous!.

I used to eat at Subway a lot more back in the early 2000s when they had their $5 footlong. It was pretty good back then, but it just doesn't seem like a "value" option to me anymore now that their 6-inch subs approach (and even surpass) $5 in price.

Another problem is, they reduced the amount of meat they put in their subs. Now, if you want as much meat as you used to get, you have to make the sub "Deluxe" and pay an extra charge.

I would agree that they oversaturated their market. In my town of about 17,000, there are four Subways.
