I rarely salt anything, I haven't for many years. The only thing I can think of is popcorn, and that's only if I don't have any grated cheese to add to it. I don't avoid salt in prepared foods, I just prepare my own without it.
Mostly fresh raw foods like tomatoes, melon, citrus, etc. And to be totally truthful, anything my taste buds desire. I do not go overboard on anything and it is very rare I even have potatoes to salt in any form.
Oh, man. I salt everything. Seriously, nearly everything. Salad, steak, chicken, eggs, vegetables, fish. I have my own personal salt shaker.
I know, it’s not a good habit.
Me, too. Pretty much everything but dessert. Well...maybe not salad, as the dressing or toppings are usually salty enough.
I do try not to salt too much during cooking, though. Do that, and everyone eating the meal is stuck with it, whether they like salt or not.
What kinds of food so you add salt to at the table, on your plate, from the salt shaker?
The only things I can think of are eggs, tomato and corn on cob. Probably baked potato, too, but it's OK without salt.
I eat the hearts of things like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, etc., dipped in salt, but that's a stand-up snack, not something I eat as a part of a meal.
Salt pretty much the same things you do, but there are a few other things. I do like to salt my meat. I think the secret is what we learned growing up or hopefully learned: taste before you salt. I am surprised at so many home we visit now days that do not use salt at the table.
We don't even have a salt shaker on the table. I season food as I prepare it. Only rarely do I add salt when eating out -- I'm much more likely to add a little hot sauce than salt.
