I make marzipan for a danish Kringle recipe I make. I usually have leftover marzipan so wondered about making those cute little fruits. When reading through recipes I noticed that they don’t get baked. They have egg whites in them so I am a little retacent about it. Has anyone made these?

If you are worried about the egg, you can buy pasteurized eggs.

It is a traditional Christmas treat in many places. Otherwise - left over marzipan works well in cookies.

Thanks for the cookie tip! And the pasteurized eggs. Maybe I will keep those liquid egg whites on hand too. Didn’t think of that.

I love marzipan and I grew up eating it. Did you make these? If so, you did a beautiful job!
I've never really thought much about the egg white.

You can make it without egg white. The best marzipan in the world - Niederegger - uses only almonds, sugar and rosewater.

I've made them before without egg white. I'm also sure I've eaten the egg white ones from various bakeries and never been sick from them.

No I haven’t tried making the fruits yet. But I did make the Almond Marzipan Kringle again today.

I’ve never tried it without egg whites. I’ve seen recipes for rosewater and there is some in my cupboard. I like it with almond extract so much but maybe will give it try with rosewater. Thanks!

I tried it with rosewater before and it tasted like soap to me. I think I just have an average American palate when it comes to stuff like that.
