Kyle, Dr Pepper is a coke product, although I agree about the diet Dr Pepper. Aside from the fact that Dr Pepper is made by coca cola, it might not have enough caffeine for the OP. it's fairly light on the caffeine compared to the colas..

Coming back to add: I googled. house brand sodas are made by Cott Corp, so they are not a coke product.
Dr Pepper is NOT a coca-cola product in the US - technically it is owned and distributed by Keurig, the coffee company. They use both Coke or Pepsi bottling facilities in many local markets which is why you may think it is one or the other based on your local market. Those bottling facilities are independent, not part of the Coca-Cola company. In other markets there are other arrangements. For example, Coke is the licensed distributor of Dr Pepper in Europe and Pepsi in Canada.

If don't want to support Coke - store brand, Pepsi or Dr Pepper are reasonable alternatives.

Strange that Diet Coke can give you more energy than coffee, considering coffee has far more caffeine.

Detaching from all bottling is a good idea IMO, so my suggestion is tap water plus a caffeine pill if you need a "pick me up".

Pepsi Zero Sugar is my favorite even though it isn't healthy.
Caffeine Content: 97 mg per 16.9 ounces or 69 mg per 12 ounces.

Many flavored sodas don't have caffeine. For instance, Orange Crush, Sprite, 7-Up, Root Beer, Dr Pepper all have zero caffeine. Mountain Dew has caffeine, and Pepsi Zero has extra caffeine vs Diet Pepsi.

Did OP ever answer why Diet Pepsi isn't an acceptable substitute?

I occasionally drink Zevia cola. They are sweetened with stevia instead of aspartame. Personally, I like the grape and orange best - the cola is just OK, but it's an alternative if you're looking to get away from aspartame or HFCS.

Seltzer water or club soda. Diet coke is worse for your body than regular coke and both are equally bad overall to the health and causes teeth corrosion.
