I occasionally drink teas and flavored drinks with Splenda as an ingredient. I don't buy things with Splenda in it, but friends and family sometimes have offered me food and drinks with Splenda as an ingredient and I don't want to make a big deal of it and it never caused me any problems. I think it is okay every once in a long while and I say that because i think the body doesn't really know how to process Splenda. Splenda is an artificial chemically derived sugar. I will wait till they do more studies on it before I feel comfortable using it on a daily basis. I would say to use just regular table sugar for your tea, but sugar itself is bad. Maybe, honey and tea would be a better combo.
Someone told me that Pur Via is a better brand than Truvia because Truvia has some other additives that aren't too good, like Erythritol--which our bodies do not digest very well so can cause problems. You can even grow stevia, the plant, and then you know what's in it.
I find all the artificial sweeteners taste nasty in some way. Splenda has a faint metallic aftertaste I really don't like, altho it's still better than saccharin.
What do you all think about splenda, and other fake sugars?
I have a lot of diabetics in my family, but if we are having a sweet, and they are going to cheat, we are going with the real thing.
With my children, I stayed away from the fake stuff...I figured they got enough of it in school lunches, and other stuff...a treat is a treat, so let's go with sugar...

If it is artificial - why take a chance?
*Xylitol and organic all leaf stevia. Since raw honey would be out of the question. Or, agave.

Personally I hate the taste of all of the fake stuff including aspartame, splenda, sucralose, and stevia. Secondly, just like saccharine; they always seem to find out something bad about these things later on. With real sugar and corn syrup, we know what to expect. Simply, just don't overdue it but go with the real stuff.
I don't understand why Stevia, made from a plant, is better than sugar, also made from a plant. It sounds to me like new age voodoo marketing.
I am not diabetic, but if I were, I might be willing to use artificial sweeteners on a limited basis. I will always choose natural over synthetic. I do not know if there is anything harmful about synthetic, but I am more comfortable with natural.
