Okay, here's another of my posts on foods from the past that no one remembers but me....

I was a kid in the 70's and we used to get these little snack sized pieces of cheese. They were wrapped in a cellophane wrapper, twisted on both sides like the wrapper on a piece of hard candy. It was a small bite size piece of cheese, round, but flattened, like a 1-inch circle about 1/2 inch deep. White cheddar color, not yellow or orange.

We would eat them like candy. I think I thought they were candy. Could be the reason that as an adult cheese is my favorite indulgence.

Does anyone else remember these? Am I delusional? I grew up in southern NJ if that makes any difference, in case they were a local thing.

Default Baby Bells

Sounds like a baby bell to me. When you peel off the plastic wrapper they are waxed just like a big hoop only they are little tiny things. Smooth white delicious mild.....drool. Dang I'm hungry now. They come in a little bag of like ten. I think I have some in the fridge. Excellent

Definitely not Baby bells. Everyone knows them, and they're in stores today. Those have a wax covering. What I'm talking about is smaller and in a candy-wrapper type wrapper.

What's a bel Piaisie? I'll do a search and get back to you.

Nah, that's not it. This looks like a common type of cheese that comes in a large wheel.
Bel Paese cheese - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please, anyone?

They remind me of those round white & red peppermints in cellophane wrappers. But the cheese was just slightly thicker.

Bite size cheese in cellophane-cheese.bmp

Here, I drew a picture of it in microsoft paint. I'm sure if I had proper tools, like paint or pastels, I could have made a very realistic picture. But this is all I have the technology for. If you right-click on it and hit "open link" you can see it larger.

I remember something like that, but I thought they were yellow like cheddar. I think they were called Cheese Bites.
